In 2024, I collaborated with a healthcare startup to uplift their mobile app into a modern, user-friendly experience. While the team had built a functional prototype, the app lacked cohesive UX design and a clear user flow for core features. My role focused on designing the nutrition tracking and meal logging experience while also refining visual design across key screens like login, dashboard, and daily tracking.

The Problem
The app had a basic dashboard, but it wasn’t fully designed to support nutrition tracking.
There was no end-to-end user flow for logging meals — users couldn’t easily add or track what they were eating.
The visual design didn’t reflect the company’s vision of a modern, supportive healthcare tool.

DESIGN
Onboarding
To reduce cognitive load and improve completion rates, I redesigned onboarding by breaking questions into separate screens and adding a progress indicator at the top, giving users a clearer sense of guidance and accomplishment.

Dashboard
The redesigned dashboard uses circular progress indicators to give users a clear, at-a-glance view of their progress throughout the day. Sliding cards organize overall goals and exercise details in a more digestible way, reducing cognitive overload.

Meal Logging Flow
I mapped out a user flow that allows users to quickly access the Log Food page in 2 steps.

Integrating New Design
To unify the app, I created a lightweight design system. This included a modern color palette, clear typography, and reusable components (buttons, input fields, cards). Standardizing these elements improved usability and made implementation easier for the developer.

Reflection
This project taught me how to take a rough MVP and tranform it into a user-friendly product under time and budget constraints. Core features (login flow, dashboard, meal logging) were adopted into the company’s app. The app has since evolved with a new color scheme, but the flows and layouts I designed remain intact.
